Violet Martin Writer, Is Born

Violet Martin, born at Ross House, County Galway, is best known by her pen name Martin Ross. A noted Irish writer, she often collaborated with her cousin Edith Somerville, publishing a celebrated series of works as “Somerville and Ross”. Their most famous book, The Real Charlotte, is considered a classic of Irish literature.
