Sean Patrick Regan is a former amateur National and World Solo Piping Champion. Based in the United States, he is an Open (professional) Grade competitor and ended 2020 ranked 3rd in the EUSPBA.

Sean graduated Summa Cum Laude and was the Outstanding Music Major of his undergraduate class at Edinboro University. Immediately following graduation, he served for four years as the Director of Music at Massanutten Military Academy, building a music department and Pipe Band that ultimately included 30% of the student body. Having established the new program, he returned to Pittsburgh where he completed a Master of Music in Bagpipe Performance at Carnegie Mellon University.

He has earned terminal certificates in Piping Performance, Theory, and Teaching from the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board, Scotland, as well as the Graduate Certificate accredited by the EUSPBA.

Sean has competed as a piper in pipe bands of every grade level and as a snare and bass drummer in bands through Grade III. He serves as Pipe Band Instructor for the Balmoral Pipes & Drums, of Pittsburgh, and as Artistic Director for the Balmoral School of Piping & Drumming. He is a member of the Scottish Nationality Room of the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Saint Andrew’s Society, and performs regularly for their annual cultural events. ​ Sean instructs individuals and bands, both in person and online. He is an active innovator in the field of online instruction and performance. He performs regularly as a soloist and as a member of Grammy-nominated Celtic ensemble, The Rogues. He is a featured performer on seven albums, and has written for The Voice, the quarterly publication of the EUSPBA, providing articles on bagpipe pedagogy and philosophy.
